Training for the London Marathon: My Journey So Far

03 Mar 2025

When I signed up to run the London Marathon for Oasis, I knew it would be a challenge.

Running 26.2 miles isn’t just about race day - it’s about the months of training, discipline, and pushing past limits I didn’t even know I had. And now, as I work through my training plan, I thought I’d share a bit about how it’s going!

Sticking to the Plan 🏃‍♀️

I’ve always been methodical, so following a structured plan is keeping me on track. Each week involves a mix of:

✅ Long runs – Gradually increasing the distance to build endurance
✅ Speed sessions – Intervals and tempo runs to improve pace
✅ Strength & mobility work – Preventing injuries (because let’s face it, I need to get to the start line in one piece!)

✅ Yoga and pilates
✅ Rest & recovery – Because muscles need time to repair and get stronger!

I’ve hit 16 miles so far, and while that’s a huge milestone, there’s still a long way to go!

The Highs and Lows

Training for a marathon is a rollercoaster. Some days, I feel unstoppable - like I could keep running forever. On other days, even a short run feels like a struggle. But every step gets me closer to that finish line on race day in April!

Biggest wins so far?
🏅 Hitting double-digit mileage without feeling completely broken!
🏅 Seeing progress in my pace and stamina
🏅 Feeling more confident that I can actually do this!

Biggest challenges?
😅 Juggling training with work and life (why aren’t there more hours in the day?!)
😅 Running in all weather conditions—hello, wind and rain!
😅 The mental battle—pushing through when my legs (and brain) say NOPE!

Why I’m Doing This 💙

I’m not just running for myself - I’m running to support Oasis and the incredible work they do. Knowing that every step I take is helping raise funds for a great cause makes the tough runs feel worth it.

What’s Next?

With less than 2 months to go, the mileage is increasing, and so is the excitement (and nerves!). I’ll be tackling longer runs, fine-tuning my strategy, and making sure I’m race-day ready.

If you’ve ever thought about taking on a marathon, or just want to follow along on my journey, stick around!

If you would like to sponsor me to get to the finish line and support an amazing charity I would be eternally grateful.

See you at the finish line! 🏅🎉
