So, picture this: It’s the most festive time of the year, and I find myself torn between the joy of Christmas indulgence and my love for staying active. What’s a runner to do? ðŸ«ðŸ«
Well, naturally, why not run 5k every day for the entire advent? Because that’s definitely the best way to balance out the holiday chocolate overload 😂
And there I was, committing to a daily 5k, rain or shine. As I shared my grand plan with friends, they popped the inevitable question: “Are you doing it for charity?”
I knew Oasis Domestic Abuse Service was running its Christmas Wish Campaign. So, I thought, why not turn my runs into a force for good and every little helps?
The fundraising was a game-changer, especially when my alarm would go off at 5:45 in the morning. Yes, it was dark, cold, and often wet or windy – but hey, who said running was all sunshine and rainbows? If only and when you are wet, you are wet ☔☔
Weekends brought a bit of relief, allowing me to hit the snooze button and enjoy a later start. No juggling the school run, or work commitments meant a more leisurely pace – thank you, weekends!
Post-Christmas break, the New Year has rolled in, the temperatures dropped, I’m not running every day, but I am on the lookout for my next challenge.
Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored my festive streak, we raised £740. Your kindness and generosity not only kept me moving but also helped Oasis smash their £5,000 target for their Christmas Wish Campaign.
I’m seriously humbled by your support!
